RCA 85 Patchbox
« on: January 14, 2018, 11:28:43 PM »
Next build in planning stage. Inspiration from RCA 85. Original has John Schneider Mr 19th 1776 engraved in block letters on PB lid. Struggling with what to do on my lid. Do I want to try and copy? Leave it blank? Something totally different? Any ideas?

I'd put the name of whomever you are building it for, and date on it in the same style as on the original.

Thinking that, but didn't really want to put modern date on it. Maybe do 1776 on outside and actual date inside?

You could do that.  On the inside, you could put your name and the date, especially if you are not going to sign the barrel.

If you don't put name, date etc on the outside of the patch box, and you are decorating the rest of the gun true to the original, I would leave the patch box blank rather than making something up.  Just my thought.
