Ran acrosswhat looks to be a pretty high quality rifle today. Almost bought it but just too much not knowing what it really is.
Looked to be about a 38" or som, 50 cal swamped barrel transitional style rifle, a little too fancy for my taste?
The rear sight had been moved fprward sometime in it's life and was inlet over what I believe to be the makers name on the topflat.
What is visable appears to be " J TOBIN (then the rear sight) 3".
Does this tell anybody anything? Is or was there a pretty good builder that might match up to what can be read??
The wood / metal fits on this gun were really well done. It was a great pc of wood and a big Germanic lock, looked like a Davis?
I got the guys number if it would be worth persueing?
Thanks to all
