Powder horn project

My grandson and I were busy yesterday and this morning. We made a campaign style horn for a gentleman up in New England. This is part of a craftsman to craftsman trade. It's definitely a change of pace for me, since I'm primarily a gun builder, and have only made a handful of horns. Let's see if I can figure out how to post a picture from this I pad.

I'm new enough to horn work that I'm hesitant to experiment with something that's going to be someone else's. So I'm leaving it natural. This is only my third horn that I'm happy with. It's nice having a small bit of success with horn work, the stuff i did years ago was pretty horrible.BJH

I have borrowed Sibleys book, and read through, it a couple times. I should quit being such a cheepskate and buy a copy. The next one has a natural black tip end, so no need for dye. It will be a small horn however. BJH

Folks, these pictures do not do this horn justice. I received it today and the workmanship is excellent. Everything is very clean and well executed, proportions are spot on. Held to the light I will be able to see how much powder I have left, and the translucence makes those rings almost seem to glow in the right light.
The white and carmel colors aren't quite as bright as the picture makes them look, I don't think they will stand out in the shadowy forest, the coloration is quite beautiful.
