Speaking of Dimick.

A certain knowledgeable gentleman from Missouri told me that if I had said I had a flint lock marked Dimick, he would have called me a liar if I had not had the evidence with me. This gun is very much like some of the guns made around Lexington, KY, and Dimick moved to St. Louis from there.

More pictures. The gun is in terrible condition, but it is one of my favorites in my collection. 44” swamped barrel that mikes 45 cal at the muzzle.

Dimick  locks can be found on  lot of rifles not made by Dimick,  But  that's the first one I recall seeing that was originally flint . LP

I only mention that as a possibility. I have seen a couple of guns signed by Lexington makers that you would swear were Tennessee guns without the signature. The only sure thing in collecting southern Kentuckies is that nothing is a sure thing. I am bringing this one to Knoxville along with two others that are closely related.

The lock is marked. I could see the name when I first got the gun. I had 20-10 vision then, but now my old eyes can only see ...mick, St Louis.
