pistol set triggers
« on: May 08, 2018, 11:39:28 AM »
I am currently building a pistol and I'm considering a single set trigger. Is there anything out there besides the Davis or the L&R. The Davis is a single set, and the L&R looks klunky to me.
Actually the Davis is not specifically made for pistol but is simple enough that I believe I could modify it.

Check with Rice Barrels I believe they are selling a Cain single set trigger. The one I used years ago was top notch.
Here is a link to their new product page. Doesn't mention Cain but when i saw one at their table at TN show the trigger was marked Cain which I assume means Cain's design, not sure: http://www.ricebarrels.com/products.html

Guido,
I've used the Davis, it's quite good, but expensive.
I've heard good things about the Hollenbaugh trigger.  No personal experience.

I've talked to Stan Hollenbaugh about his.  It can't be modified or it won't function properly.  Probably the same with all set triggers...bend the trigger plate to match the contour you wish to have and the trigger won't function properly.

Thank you Dennis. I talked to Jason this morning. Indeed he does make a copy of the Walter Cain single lever set trigger. However it is configured for a rifle. He did say that he modified it so you don't have an 1/8 inch travel.
I have a Walter Cain single set and I'm not willing to bugger it up. I will save it for a rifle.
Thanks Dane, I got on the R. E. Davis website and they are showing a double lever single set trigger that can be used in a rifle or a pistol.  It retails for $100.00. I assume this is the one you mean.
Thanks Mauser06, you saved me the trouble.
Little Joe says he has an L&R single set pistol trigger. I'll look at it next week then I will make up my mind.
I really appreciate the feedback!
