Refinished my trade gun
« on: March 21, 2018, 05:30:39 AM »
I just refinished this trade gun which I originally built in 1978.   Didn’t realize it had been that long till I pulled the barrel and saw that it was dated 6 / 78.   Never cared for the light color it was originally and never shot it much. I’ll shoot it more now.  For those interested, the chest is a 6 board chest made of full width chestnut boards.  Fellow who gave it to me said 1840’s or ‘50’s.

Nice looking storage chest ...good colour and figure.
All of my muzzleloaders will shoot into one ragged hole ALL DAY LONG ... it's just the 2nd or 3rd & other shots that tend to open up my groups ... !

Antique chest and a very good looking trade gun; that gun has great figure on that stock.

yes, this is from plank.   I have not used any precarved stocks on anything so far. ( I think I’ve built about 20 since 1972)
