Thought I would share a couple of great resources for studying original European guns. Great pictures and descriptions on the sites

Is the installed breechplug on the bottom barrel to make it a breechloader? There is a second plug in the case.
Also the folding leafs on the top barrel appear to fade to the right.

Hi Justin,
Lewis Drake and Geoffrey Walker's sites have been staples of mine for almost a decade.  Walker's is the best for high-end English pistols and I believe he is recognized as an expert on those.  Peter Finer and Henry Krank are also good sites for European guns.

For years I have collected Peter Finer catalogs.  Lewis Drake was a favorite site of mine also. Note the fine checkering on some of the French flintlocks. It is like modern checkering.  On some Boutet guns there was checkering of near 32 lines pr inch.  Also note the rust bluing on some of them. I have said for years that rust bluing has been around for at least 200 years.  There are some parts that are case colored or fake case colored that I do not believe are original. It is unlikely that trigger guards or butt plates were case colored or even case hardened. Butt plates that are case hardened must be installed after they are hardened because they warp a lot as do trigger guards. Been there done that.
