Well,went up to camp to sight in my hawken flinter I built.Walked into a plumbing nightmare,kinda cooled my jets about shooting at first.Seems the last folks who used the place didnt properly drain the pipes on the way out.Yup they split,leaked at joints,frozen pipes.Spent most of saturday chasing leaks,fix one,turn on the water to find another down the line.After playing plumber it was time to do some shooting.Aside from being a little hard on flints(posted this in gun building forum) the rifle functioned perfectly.Loading was the same first shot to last.I shot swiss 2f from 60grs to 150grs,settling on 90 for plinking.Used 020 pillow ticking but think 022 might even be better,next time.Did not have to do any wiping ,ease of loading from first shot to last.Shot out to a hundred yards,did the 25 then fifty then hundred.Really had to whittle down the front sight,like half of it.good groups and will have no problem taking deer with this rifle out to a hundred yards,didnt get to shoot it out past 100 yards,next time but after seeing its performance at a hundred,im thinking once things are figured out should do fine going farther distances.58 cal.loads past 120grs start having a little bite but not at all uncomfortable.Would have liked to do some more shooting but weather started moving in.Next time out I will get some pictures,sorry
