  Usually, a round ball will weigh considerably less than a shot load.  So recoil should not be that bad.  Unless, I guess, that you're loading that thing WAY up.?? ???

smallpatch...Shooting shot at a bird or clay bird or running rabbit you don't think much it just happens and you don't notice the kick.  Shooting a ball even off-hand is deliberate and concentrated so at least speaking for myself.  I feel it.

Not loading way up 80 grains FFg max with a .595 ball.

   Yeah, I guess I see what you mean.  There is a big difference between leading that bird, and carefully squeezing off that shot at the X-ring.

I'm gonna give a shot this weekend.
