Haymaker Rifle
« on: December 01, 2023, 11:05:17 PM »
Does anyone have a good picture of the barrel tang area of the Adam Haymaker Rifle (RCA 131)?  I have never seen it in person I can’t make out that area on any of the pictures I have been able to find.  It’s shown in RCA, but it’s too dark for me to tell what it looks like.  I did notice an incised line on the top of the forearm from a picture of the muzzle area, and I’d like to make sure I’m not seeing things.  I appreciate any help.

I don't know if a Haymaker rifle is on any of these CD, thumb drives.  You can ask them. Great Photos & Awesome Resource.

I purchased the KRA Virginia Longrifles CD because it had Adam Haymaker listed in the gun makers, and it was a much later rifle by him.  Judging from the pictures I have I’d say it was posted on something like those CDs, but I have yet to find it.

Van Pitman may know.  He photographs a lot of these rifles. He is on here some.

::) ::).. I'm not a picture taker, but methinks the cheek-rest photo of this rifle needs to be flipped....

Looking over my files, this is the only one I've seen.  Original source was Hankla's website, some time back.

Habu,

Thank you for the picture.  That’s a huge help.  That’s quite a bit different than what I thought it would look like from the RCA picture.

Found another poking around the web, cited source is also Hankla's webpage but for some reason I didn't have it:

Habu,

Once again thank you for the picture.  I looked for his website and neither one would come up.  I tried using the search feature on this to see if it had been posted already.  Everything I found said, keep going to his website and I never could get them to come up.  I really appreciate the help.

Dagnabbit, you got me wondering (always a bad thing, because I tend to wander).  I did some more digging.  Go here: https://web.archive.org/web/20121229110233/http://kentuckylongrifles.com/html/adam_haymaker.html

This is the page Hankla had on the Haymaker rifle in 2013.  Pics etc sometimes disappear from the archive; best bet is to download the entire page and save it to a file.
