An excellent installment on the video series. You wouldn't believe the confidence these have given me to jump in on my kit. Thanks again for all the effort in putting these videos together.

Jim, thanks so much for the great videos.  I have watched them several times and am trying to keep up with you on my kit but being a complete rookie I am taking it slow and easy.  Your written instructions are fine but seeing it put together is an even bigger help.  Just gives me that bit of confidence that the written paper does not,  Looking forward to the metal and stock finishing videos.  Got my sandpaper / scrapers ready to go as well as the your metal aging, tannin, aquafortis and permalyn.

Thanks again,

Dave

Jim Kibler,

Thank you for spending your time on making the video's and put them on ALR.
You work so clean.

Now I have a question about the barrel under lugs.
You drill a hole exactly in the middle to pin the barrel, but why do you file the pin hole wider?

On your assembly Part 7 you told that it looks rough, but you know exactly what you are doing.

Adrie

Thanks Adrie.  Why the pin hole is filed wider?  Two reasons:  First changes in length of the forestock due to changes in ambient humidity.  Second changes in length of the barrel due to temperature changes.

Both are very real and if you don't allow for these changes, the accuracy of the firearm will be diminished.
