Youth rifle done....learning as I go!
«

The youth rifle I’ve been working is finally finished. I’m ok with the turnout but as always I keep telling myself I wish I’d done this or wish I had done that, either way here it is.
40 cal. Green mountain barrel with L&R lock. Low grade maple stock with grain running in all directions along with soft and hard spots galore.
Opinions and comments welcomed!

Telling yourself ,I wished I did this or that , is what makes us want to build another one isn't it?

I restocked my first rifle three times before I finally was happy. Good on ya for taking the project on, and learning what you can do differently next time. Inletting and carving look good.

There must be a youth out there some wear with a big smile on his or her face. You will always feel that you can do better. All things considered NICE JOB.

Thank you for the kind words. A wee better then the first build and hopefully the third will be a wee better then this one. The third will be a fowler for the spring turkey season next year.
David, you are correct......3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter have been eyeballing this rifle since I started on it several months ago. Can't wait to watch them shoot it.

From your comment about the grandchildren, looks to me like you’ll be building 3more like this before you build that Fowler. Nice work. Anyone would be proud to own that gun.
