I haven't worn out any files, but its not from trying.  Have found it very difficult to obtain a seal on the breech plug.
I read the topic by KY Shinner and followed his advice about using a nut on the breech plug while filing to ensure the plug
face was filed uniformly.  The nut cost me $1.49 plus tax and saved me a lot of time and work.

Thanks

Hi Beau,

Welcome to ALR.  You are right about the tip of using a nut on the breech plug to keep the face flat.  For me, the key is going slow and checking the fit often.
