Jaeger castings
« on: September 23, 2018, 01:58:47 AM »
Does anyone know of a place to purchase some but plates and trigger guards for a Jaeger rifle build? I am looking for something other than the common stuff that everyone sells, preferably something early. I'm also looking for some good early jaeger patterns. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
John

I wish I could get through to them. I've tried calling and emailing and they never get back to me. I was interested in one of their locks also.

Ron's got a collection of castings at Muzzleloacer Builder Supply that's fairly new, some detailed, chiseled stuff.  Easiest way to find it for me was their online store, punch Jaeger in the search box.

The castings from Track can be altered quite a bit.  I have done this and it seemed to work.

Best,
R.

I just received some casting sets that are from the NMLRA class this last June. You can see the original rifle by going to the Jaeger Rifle Seminar Sticky in the Gun Building Forum.  This set is in White Brass. Contact me at ronscottflintlocks@gmail.com and I can send you particulars.

I have a buttplate and trigger guard from the Pistor rifle (Brandenburg) I could part with.

Buttplates aren't too difficult to swage out of sheet brass, depending on the style.

Thank you for the information. I have a couple Jaeger projects in the works. I will definitely be in contact with Ron Scott.

utseabee,

I have a few jaeger rifle barrels (62 cal x 31" long) left in inventory since 1985 or before that I built for John Bivins and brass butt plate and trigger guard pattern by Monte Mandarino with yellow brass castings from my foundry for my personal projects. I am considering selling and will be pulling from storage soon. If interested contact me at rtadams1@bellsouth.net

Best Regards,

Robert T Adams

R.T. Adams, I had used a Mint Hill Rifle Works barrel some years back, which I'd found on consignment. You were kind enough to send me a brochure on the Bivins Jaeger project. Thank you for that piece of information.

Acer,

I remember that discussion we had and sending you an original brochure that I made for the John Bivins Jaeger Rifle Barrel manufacturing project that I started in 1976. I have only a few barrels left and will probably remove from inventor sometime later this year or earlier for sale. Hard to let the past go, but must move forward. All wonderful memories of John Bivins and all of my friends that were associated with that project.

Thanks,

Robert
