About the recent post by Dennis about black oxide wood screws......How does the black finish effect browning or blueing the screw head? Is there a simple secret for removing the finish first?

If you are filing them to fit contours (as on patch boxes) then then the black oxide finish is gone
and should pose no problem. Otherwise sand or file the heads as you would normally to a cleanup finish and you should be good to go.
