I have a few hundred square miles for my elk hunt. Doing spot and stalk with an extra twenty pounds of of clothes on ain't happening.
I'm in my mid 60's and do sleep on the ground when hunting with my young friends back east. Also on Rendezvous.
 As far as this hunt goes I will be sleeping in my bed at home.

I have the same millions of acres to hunt and i'm right in the middle of 14,000 mountains. I'm 76, hunt solo, and carry a 10lb gun. No spot and stalk. That sounds like using binos and spotting scopes. I use no modern gadgets. I use the still hunting method.

However, I do sleep at home at night because I live where I hunt.

mtnman - yes - 19,200 km this last summer pulling my trailer - averaged 12.8mpg (on IMP gallon)  Very comfortable.
