Add Barrel Band to Fowler
« on: November 22, 2018, 02:10:05 PM »
Awhile back I bought a reproduction  barrel band with sling swivel that was made for a French
Musket.  My idea was to put this on a fowler that I made. The band will need a little reforming.
Is there anyone here that has done this? Will a good wood to metal fit be good enough? I didn't want
Add a retaining spring.
I think there are example of militia guns where this was done. Thanks

The early model French muskets had bands that friction fit. So it should work. Couple of examples in the Fowler book we all use. Happy Thanksgiving

NH,
If it slips a little, some very thin washleather on the inside would hold it.
