Lock marked CS
«

Acquired a rifle fitted with a lock that is marked "CS" in a square on the inside of the lock. The rifle is a flintlock fitted with a Bill Large barrel. Any idea who may have made the lock? Thanks in advance.

CS might be also for Charlie Siler (Bud Siler)

Picture needed. If it IS a Shoults I can probably verify it. Inside and outside
pictures please.

If it looks like a Chambers Siler it was probably made by Bud Siler if it has the CS marking. Looking around I think the Shoults locks have his whole name stamped inside.

Definitely a Siler lock assembled by Bud Siler himself. Early in his lock making career he did assemble some locks.
