I just wanted to let all of Dave's old friends on this forum know that Dave passed peaceably at home today. I know that he enjoyed his dialogue with many of you in Gun Building. Your community was a great source of enjoyment for him. He will be missed by all of us who had the fortune to make his acquaintance, and his lessons live on.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Never met the gentleman, but we will sure all miss him on this site. Prayers for all that grieve his passing.

Sorry to hear of a good man passing.  It’s good to hear he found the community and sharing of a common passion to be a sweet spot.

I knew Dave for at about 25  years. He taught a lot of guys how to build guns in his day. We were good friends and I will miss him. He is the one who first talked me into going to the CLA show in Lexington.

That is a great loss to the NW gun making community. I got to know David from going to the Gunmaker's Fairs here in the NW. He was very generous with his time and knowledge. He could inlet a lock with a forstner bit quicker than any one I have ever seen. He would give it to you straight and was a very good teacher. He will be sorely missed.

I'll miss him. He was an excellent teacher and a pleasure to be around. I learned a lot from him.

Sometimes, getting older is no fun at all.  I think in the last 18 months, I have lost about 25 family and friends.  Lots of pain involved also, some physical, some mental.  Really perturbs me that I can no longer do so many things that I have enjoyed over the past almost 3/4 century.

I need a dagnabbit WAY-BACK machine!
