Horn of Plenty

The horn of plenty thingy was just a Thanksgiving theme. This horn has been passed down through the same family for over two hundred years. The original owner was a German immigrant who came to Eastern Pennsylvania prior the American Revolution. I doubt this horn was carried by him then, but may have been obtained shortly there after. There was a hole in it & was egg shell fragile around that area. I only wanted to fix the hole and stabilize the horn and not ruin its character. Art Decamp repaired the horn and identified it as a early York County horn, that was originally dyed green. He did an excellent job & we cannot even tell where he repaired it. Here is some pics, before & after. Have a happy Thanksgiving.

I like the horn, and the story it comes with. Truly utilitarian elegance is this horn.

If these old fellers could just talk, what a story they could tell. Wars, hunts, Indian attacks, how many miles they have traveled, WOW. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL......

Incredible! What a grand horn, one with an amazing history!
Thanks to the repairs, it’ll be good for another couple centuries I’ll bet!! Are you going to use it for storing powder?
