New Year's Day Shoot
« on: January 06, 2019, 02:17:06 AM »
Jim held his New Year's Day shoot, but it was too cold for most.  Bob came from Golden, Colorado to shoot and so I and Kyme went out, along with two interested observers.  Here I am with my .54 Kit Carson copy on the cross-canyon shoot ("more than 100 yards", said Jim).  I think we all three hit the only two targets we could see in the snow.

Here Kyme is showing a new-comer the fine points of his English officer's personal rifle, a 16 gauge or .66 caliber smoothbore.

The winner's circle.  Bob had three misses with a .54 GRRW barreled left-handed walnut stock Hawken I made from a blank about 20 years ago.  I think I was second, we had no score keeper and didn't write our scores down.

I had a lot of trouble making this lock inlet when I didn't know how.

That West Virginia walnut blank was hard wood.
