Ballistic gel tests

Does anybody out there have test results of firing round balls into ballistic gel? Looking to see how far various loads of different calibers penetrate into the gel.

I will be interested in your replies. My experience is limited to penetration in water jugs and only with one caliber. I hope someone with compare different calibers in gel. Also maybe someone will have directions for home made Gel.

Try a google search on the terms “Roundball ballistics gel”, as I just did and more than a few YouTube videos popped up.

Not exactly what you want but does show a round ball in gel.

Here's one with a C&B revolver. Pretty impressive for just 30gr load.

Off topic a bit and maybe not appropriate for this forum. It is interesting and clearly shows that bullet speed does more damage than bullet weight.

I suppose the interest in penetration, is directly related to hunting. The video that old MTN Man posted shows bones in the gelatin. That is good, however putting wet deer hide over the gelatin would be closer to what you would have in the field.
