Gallyon & Sons Restoration

Enclosed are a couple  of images  of gun and  case restoration  which is a sxs percussion gun in 14 bore  by the long established  Uk maker  Gallyon  & Sons  who establishment  was Bridge Street Cambridge .  This maker began business in 1784   moving  to 14 Green Street  1810-1852 the family continued in the gun trade in Cambridge till 1981  which marked 200 years of gun making

Gallyon were always very nice guns, Feltwad, and yours is a grand example!

Lovely wood.
The case looks a nice job as well.
Hide glue is very good for this, as it can be applied and left to dry, then the baize applied and ironed into place.

Do you have any photos of the gun out of the case?

I have enclosed extra images , it must be noticed that this gun was in a  bad condition with pitting to the lock plates and the standing breech ,To remove this pitting would have  lost what is left of the engraving so  I just cleaned off the heavy rust , always remember with restoration never take it too far a gun which is over 150 years old should look its age  not something straight of the shelf. A restorer should have a code , if in doubt leave it alone.

Not over done as you say, and your advice is very good.

It may have a few pits, but it still has the lines of a thoroughbred!
