How thick are typical toe plates and muzzle caps on originals?  Couple of dimensions I haven't  measured.

On original ones that I have been able to measure, most of the brass pieces tend to be about 0.40 while toe plates occasionally ran a little bit thicker.

I use 1/16" for toe plates and something less than that for muzzle caps. Most folks toeplates are way too thick.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

From what I've seen, probably more like .020"
