If you put your name on a build where would you put it? And how,,,,,,, First initial last name or full name or what? I was thinking first and middle initial and last name on top of barrel. I also thought full name on side plate.

The traditional location for the builder's signature is the top barrel flat between the breech and the rear sight.  Initials, full name, etc., your choice.

I place first and middle initial and last name on the lock plate in period scroll, looks nice and personalizes it.

You can use pretty much any combination of name, initials, whatever you like.  I prefer to orient a signature toward the lock side of the rifle so that when carried in typical fashion by the user, the signature will be readily readable by an onlooker - advertisement if you will.  Most if not all of the Northampton co. makers were signing in this manner - Rupps, Molls, Christian Oerter etc.  Many others outside of the area as well.
