Just finished bark tan bag
« on: February 26, 2019, 01:46:49 AM »
Hers a bag I just finished made out bark tan deer.  Has a gusset and welt sewn in with pocket inside on back panel.  Bound flap edge and front panel edge.  Took me many hours to see thanks to the gusset and welt but it has my heart and will be staying with me and accompanying a Beck .54.

Very fine work.  Is it lined?  I like the color of the deer hide.

Thanks for kind words!  The bag is not lined.  I tend to not line them thinking that most originals weren't.  The bark tan is nice and the color is the way it was.  I did nothing to it other than rub bear oil into it.  I got it a couple of years ago from a guy with the last name Hunt.  I believe he was from Virginia and I'm trying to find his contact which is around here someplace.  I find it's tough marking for holes in bark tan but I was able to do it.  For some reason I have an affection for the rustic look.
