Caplock Builders?

Looking for recommendations for builders taking commissions and who make caplocks such as the various plains rifles (excluding J&S Hawkens) or Ohio rifles etc, basically folks who make authentic percussion rifles. Wanting to have a custom one made but most builders seem to focus on early long rifles, not the later guns, so it’s been tricky.

Okay thanks bye!

John Bergmann does credible work on both caplocks and flintlocks in my opinion

I should mention I am not looking for a J&S Hawken replica, but something less often seen, such as a Dimmick or half stock Ohio rifles.

I can certainly second that.  He is a conscientious builder, and a fine man.  I do not think you can go wrong.

Try his number 931-268-6066.  He works in his shop, so keep trying and you'll get him.

God Bless,   Marc

Hi,
Another flexible and accomplished builder is Brad Emig, from Cabin Creek muzzle loading rifles.
Outstanding work!

Right now there is an absence of a proper Dimick breech on the market.  An Ohio rifle will be easier to find a builder for.
