KRA comes to Carlisle
« on: June 17, 2009, 06:00:03 PM »
Well its time for the annual show of the first true American artform.  I'll be at a table with some old guns, bags, horns, and such... will I see any of you there?

I will be there around mid-day Friday. No table but I will bring one of my rifles for display on the members table. I will be leaving early PM Saturday.

I will be there for the entire thing, My buddy Brad Bogart is getting his 25 year pin this year.  I will have a few originals and a nice whale tale Beck copy on Brad's table.  How will we know you or will you have bread on your head???

Fred and I will be there. Fred on Friday and I'll be there on Saturday. Look for the Library/Museum table.

Right now a fight in my gun cabinet as to who's going to make the trip. Looks like Adam and William will come down... Adam Angstadt and William Lloyd, but that could change.

By the way... Fred's the ugly guy trying to steal an upper Susquehanna rifle. ::)

See you gentlemen there.

I'm the guy on the left.  My brother, an applicant for membership this year, will also be with me.

I plan to be at the meeting Friday PM and all day Saturday.  This is the first year I've been able to attend since joining the KRA.  I look forward to meeting you all there.

First Report:
Everyone as usual  very friendly. Many commitments to sending guns to the Museum. Good show . Excellent exhibits.  Asking prices still very respectable. Much for sale. Berks Co Exhibit as well as horn exhibits first class.

Just got home and got to see who you are.  Wish I had known before the show.   We did get a chance to talk for a bit while we were standing by the open door behind your table trying to get some fresh air to dilute the charcoal fumes.   Great show, as always i learned a lot....

All in all, I found the show very good.  After the initial disappointment of being stuck on a table against the wall, we settled in for some exceptional rifles, horns, bags, tomahawks, and other accoutrements.  Saw many old faces from years gone by, and met some great new ones.

Most of the discussion at the show centered around the move next year to Pittsburg, and while it will add considerable mileage to my trip, I think the membership was ready to leave The Embers.  I know I have been running around that place since I was like 10 (or whenever they would let me in) and it has changed little.

Thanks to everyone who came by my table and checked out the Pennsylvania guns I had there, along with the cased Ohio rifle.

P.S.  What happened to the judging tables?  Did I miss them stopping the judging of rifles?  I had one I wanted to drop on the Best Relief Carved..   :)

I too am close. Only 1 1/4 hr from Carlisle. But I'm willing to go to Pittsburg for better lighting. I enjoyed the judging as well . I think everyone was getting a little jaded. I bet it'll come back after a while. Bill
