For the tip I made a cone out of a piece of folder and wrapped it around a 1/4" dowel. Poured the pewter, removed the dowel and put the cone on a pen mandrel and rough turned it. Took it off the mandrel, chucked it up and drilled a 1/2" hole about 3/8" deep. Put it back on the mandrel and finished turning it. The horn tip had been drilled and squared off, took a hack saw and made a cut around the horn about 3/8" from the tip to made a seat. Then filed the 3/8" section down until it fit the 1/2" hole.
To color the pewter I used brass black or bluing solution, put it on, let it sit awhile, rub it with 0000 steel wool and recoat, repeat probably 5 or 6 times, then a coat of wax. Three very small, 3/64, pins are used to hold it on.
