Dan, thanks for posting.  Could you please post more  pictures of the rifle.  There were  so many makers we need to get an idea of where the rifle might of been made.  Then figuring out what maker might of signed this piece could be easier or at least possible.

There is no patch box. Inlays are quite thin and broken up.

Is the signature C T ?  Can you get a picture of both sides, from the end of butt to just in front of  the lock & lock plate  a few inches?  Hard to grasp  the profile when in two pictures and vertical.

The patchbox could help solve the question too.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

It is difficult to read the second initial. It looks more like a "P" to me, but it may be "J." Any other thoughts about the second initial?  Shelby Gallien

I think the second initial is a "P".

There is no patch box. The inlays are very plain with no engraving and are very thin, also most are broken into many pieces. I can't post any pictures yet because the rifle is in the middle of being restored. The lock is probably a replacement . About half of the wood is missing from both sides of the barrel. The bore is very nice.

I attached a couple of pictures that were not included in the first batch.

I know there are many different hands but these may be of some help. The "C" in the first one looks close. One, the last is an example of German cursive. These are supposedly 18th c examples.

Maybe Ohio.  Maybe Charles Parker, or Cornelius Peabody.  Only guessing but the inlays reminds me of Ohio. Ok, I threw my dart.  Next. ;D

Who made the lock?

Looks like a Goulcher, but the stampingis gone. I think the lock is a replacement anyway.
