Bucks County smooth rifle
« on: March 07, 2019, 12:08:39 AM »
I saw this piece on James Julia's website, and thought I'd copy it.....With a 20 gauge 46" round barrel it weighs in at 6.5 pounds.....Sure love that Freddy Harrison stump cut maple!

Hi,
Wonderful Dan!  I think that is the nicest American long rifle-inspired fowler I've seen.   You have a gift much like Jim Kibler in that your carving designs are alive and not static.  Very nice.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. When I saw the original I was impressed with the overall look, and had to try and make a copy. I don't know how Freddy could find all the great wood he did, but he sure was a great source for some awesome wood.

I'm a sucker for Bucks county guns. You did an outstanding job on that gun. The wood is very very nice.

At the very first glance it was as if there was something alive about it. The lines, the grace, the soulful balance. I’m no builder but have admired and shot longrifle for a long time. That’s possibly the most gorgeous piece I’ve ever laid eyes on. Well done!
