Longhunter knife sheath

Awhile ago received from ALR member and wonderful craftsman T. Butler this beautiful well made longhunter knife with 10 inch blade.
I made a wooden scabbard to it, covered with rawhide, on top I made a barktan backflap, covered with quilled brain tan deerskin. Here the result, the credit for the knife goes fully to Todd

I, too, have received a fantastic blade from Todd - he makes beautiful and useful blades.  I am in the process of making a mold for a pewter bolster (if that is the right word) for it, and a nice burl myrtle handle.

I've never cast pewter before, only aluminum (60 years ago), and lead balls.  Should be a fun, and learning, experience.

And I had also been wondering about a period sheath (1790-1810), and I think you have provided an answer!  Probably won't be near as well decorated - I gotta tell my son's chickens to treat their feathers nicely.

Didn't mean to imply that the chicken feathers would be used as a substitute for porcupine quills - two different animals entirely.
Was thinking to put a cluster of fluff feathers to one side of the sheath.

Hugo I am glad you like the knife it was a fun one to make and you did a truly beautiful sheath for that blade, I love the look.
