Snuff Box #2
« on: October 23, 2019, 09:31:25 PM »
I never seam to be able to start just one of anything, so here is #2, a 3rd is in the works.
This one is about 3 1/4 X 2 X 1 1/2". Maple top with a Tin liner, Pine bottom covered with Tin cover. Painted Black, rubbed back, stained Light Brown and Brown shoe polish.
For what it's worth...the Maple top was painted with a Yellow water based stain, sanded back and then rubbed with the rotted hull of a Walnut, Steel wooled and a coat of Danish oil applied. Once dry it was buffed with 0000 steel wool and waxed with the shoe polish.

Good googly!  I like that one too.  Much more subtle than Carla's work on #1.  Not sure which I like better.  Very very cool work.

I am thinking one of those without the sliding hatch on the top (think airtight or close as possible) would make a fine container for a day's worth of pipe tobacco as well.

Are you in the business of accepting commissions Tim?

Those are just neater than heck!  I don't snuff or smoke, but I think I'm gonna make one anyway.  I think it will make a neat way to carry small bore balls for my .36...just like a candy dispenser!

Hey Tim, if you come up with a plan for a tobacco version get one in the mail to me as well.

I'm working on one now. I'll post Pix when it's done and we can go from there. Like changes in size, top, material etc...

  Thanks, Tim
