.58 takes another buck!
« on: October 22, 2019, 04:27:32 AM »
I'll join in on the deer pics, got this on the Friday of our recent 3 day October MZ season last week.  30 yard shot with the .58, dropped in a pile!  In the mountains of Western MD now with a buddy and our flintlocks on the black bear hunt, nothing seen for day one, rest of the week to go...

Super nice young buck.. That nub counts as a point here. Is that two brow tines I see or one? 8 or 9 pointer?

Good deal. I hope to see a bear with a flintlock laying over it by the weekend

Nice buck, Osprey.  Good luck with the bears. It would be nice to see you and that flintlock in a picture with a bear from this year's hunt.

Hard to tell in that pic, but he's 10pt and 3 1/2 years old, passed him last year as a young 10 and the year before that as a tiny 7.  Just a narrow rack, have a had a few wit that genetic in our area.

Rained out this morning for bears, back at it this afternoon...

Thanks all! Home from the bear hunt now, nothing shot and no sightings.  Two of us on my buddy's tag, three other guys on another tag.  No bait, no scents, just sit in the woods for MD rules and it only runs 7-9% success the last ten years or so, and we hunt big tracts of state forest, so it's never a surprise to come home empty handed.  Still a fun week in the mountains!

Congratulations, I’m as jealous as can be. Just spent a weeks vacation hunting in Pa and saw nothing but squirrels and chipmunks. God bless.
