Boy's Rifle

Hello, all!
   Are any of you aware of a Boy's Rifle kit on the market, or am I just going to have to piece this one together myself? I'd like to build a small rifle for my son.

Hi,
Chambers Little Fella's rifle might fit the bill.  You can easily adjust length of pull between 12-13" inches.  The peep sight on the rifle below was my invention.  It is not part of the kit and I changed the side plate and added the patch box.

Cabin Creek Muzzleloading has a very nice ladies/boys rifle available.  Patterned after a Dickert Lancaster  30" long tapered and flared barrel, 11 1/4" to 12 1/2" LOP.

I don’t know how much experience in building you have or how much work you look to do , but Looper on this site has a couple of patterns for boy’s rifles he told me recently. He can inlet a variety of barrels in it. You may want to check with him.

I've only built one kit gun, and that one mostly fell together. I have been doing work on firearms for years, though, so the wood and metal finishing really weren't a big deal. I saw that Sitting Fox also has a boys rifle. Any thoughts on them?

I personally had a poor experience with Sitting Fox. Barrel was inlet 1/4" too far back, and lock inlet was sloppy.  I don't do kits with pre-inlet locks anymore. Jim Kibler kits being an exception.

  In my experience with S.F.they sell kits but they are hap hazard at best. With more than one person doing this an that. But to each his own..

Brad Emig of Cabin Creek used to have a really nice Lancaster boys rifle kit. Give them a call and see if they still do.

I've built three Little Fellers and each  is more reliable then the next.  They are also easy to style









You might also consider building around Pecatonica Beck Boys stock.
