Silver Mounted Tryon Half Stock Rifle - pictures restored below

I don't see any Tryon rifles in our Museum, so I am planning on submitting this one but thought that I should first run it by our members to see if there is anything that I am missing about Tryon history that should be included in the description of this submission.
This is an Edward K. Tryon rifle that, according to the previous owner and researcher of Tryon firearms, was likely made between the mid 1840s and mid 1850s. It has a 32” barrel of .41 caliber. The engraved mountings are all of silver and there are several gold inlays throughout, the ones on the barrel and lock stating “TRYON”. The patchbox has 7 piercings and the spring catch for it has an interesting roller bearing on the spring inside. The interior of the patchbox is silver lined as are the interiors of the two cap boxes located in the toe plate and adjacent to it. It seems that Tryon made this to show his capabilities and it could have been used as an exposition or display gun. He may have intended that it be ultimately sold and the buyer would have his name or initials in the vacant gold oval opposite the lock. The lock is marked “J Evans” on the inside. The barrel has no other marks beneath so the rifle appears to be of Tryon manufacture using a trade lock. The rear sight is nicely executed.
I would sure appreciate any comments.
Thanks.
Frank

What a beauty, thanks for sharing!
I won a Tryon rifle (Confederate conversion) at one of the recent Morphy auctions that someone
brought me to Germany and I will pick up at the Kassel gun show next week.
Not as georgious as this one of course.

I think you’re right. That rifle says this is what I can do and I am the best gunsmith around. Killer rifle. Was he an engraver or did some Philly silversmith do that?

In answer to Shreckmeister's question about the engraver of this rifle, since this engraving is so intense, I believe that Tryon must have had this done outside of his shop by one of the prominent Philadelphia silversmiths.
