I would like to know if anyone can ID this lock. It also has to be "adjusted". Not able to fire it, the springs seem way too heavy??

Best guess from my limited knowledge is a Harper's Ferry lock, or an attempt at one of the military contract locks around that era.

Yes, I figured it was exactly that, but wondering who might of made it? No marks on it at all. Any one out there willing to "tune" it for me?

If no one offers, here is a link to one of the tutorials that seems pretty good. I am still learning and not brave enough to do this for anyone else currently.

Dixie Gun Works used to sell that lock in the '60's & later probably. It's a poor Italian copy of the 1805 Harper's Ferry pistol lock, it's suppose to look like this -

Looks to be an Indian made 1803 lock.

Jamned, what do you plan to use the lock for? You may find it needs $200 of work to become a passable lock.
I’d take the springs off and see how things cycle as a first step.

Looks to me like the leafs of the mainspring are to close together for the spring to properly compress.

That stubby upper limb of that mainspring would make me shy away from any attempts to
"tune" it.
