Beck trigger shoe width
« on: July 26, 2009, 09:09:04 PM »
After reading the posts suggesting a different trigger for a recent Beck rifle I realized I was guilty of the same trigger selection. This is my first build of any kind and has come out pretty well if you overlook the rookie mistakes like holes drilled a little off square.

Mine first was pinned in the trigger plate and has about a 6# trigger pull. I bought one to pin higher in the mortise and bought a real ornate one then saw the posts on a Beck gun.

I went to the archives and followed the instructions for making a trigger(sure was easy). I have the trigger shaped and am filing down the shoe width but from the pictures of originals I can't tell exactly how wide the shoe should be.

Any suggestions?

That's one of those views you just never get to see up close is it! Thanks for sharing the shot.

Now I'll need to hammer out another trigger since I know what a Beck trigger is really suppposed to look like.

Here is what I made. My first, the one on the right it too big and I planned to bend the shoe into an arc but it was too straight and didn't bend right.

I pounded the metal into a bend the whole length of the shoe on the second one. It came out much better.
