Anyone recognize the makers marks? Just got this pistol barrel . Probably from the 70s and possibly from Ohio.

I think the Js are his daughters first initials. He changed stampings over the years, I have one with a backwards G., the rifle is 44 cal.
I have seen marks with the Js under the WM Large but never like the one in your picture.

momannh; Sir, I have a set of matched pistol barrels, .45 cal. with the stamping of "J.J.J.J". Manufactured by W. M. Large from Ohio. Have a great Day. AJ.

Greetings All,
Bill Large's JJJJ Ranch, Gun & Machine Shop in Ironton, Ohio is mentioned in John Baird's "Hawken Rifles, The Mountain Man's Choice" (copyright 1968). Also mentioned, as a maker of fine locks, is ALR member Bob Roller.
Enjoy,
Kevin

You could get all sorts of stampings on Large barrels. John D Baird became "Dinglehofer" and I had one stamped Daniel "Wildfire" Phariss. It was a percussion Hawken barrel.
JJJJ were his daughters.
