Where to find plans/dimensions
« on: February 27, 2020, 04:42:08 PM »
I'm fairly new to all this. I would like to try to build an early style rifle and would like to attempt to copy an original. Something with a wide buttplate, not too much drop.I want to do my best at it, and it will be a hunting rifle for me. Do you have any suggestions for one to copy? Preferably something I can get parts for and good pictures? Thanks in advance!

Also, I want to build it from a blank. I've done two kits and this one will be from scratch.

Keep in mind that plans have to be altered if using a different barrel profile, lock, etc.

You might want to consider something from J.P. Beck.    His rifle architecture seems to fit people quite well.  They make great hunting rifles and you can copy anything from his earliest work to his later work.  Parts and materials for this style is readily available.

Good luck with your project.
