Hi Jim,
I meant no criticism just it looked different.  I much prefer the appearance of the two examples of your lock that you show rather than Frank House's version.

No worries Dave.  I'm glad for your questioning of the top jaw screw.  I'm much happier after considering some other options.

All the best,
Jim

Can the new lock be used to replace the Chambers' lock in an already built SMR?

No, this will not replace a Chambers Late Ketland.  We chose to design this from the ground up.  Sorry!

I'm hesitant to discuss pricing here as I'm not sure it's appropriate, but both locks will be priced the same.  I provide a link to our store earlier in this thread.

Thanks!
Jim

No worries Jim, and thanks for the clarification.  My lock works just fine...not sure I want to be corrupted with one that performs better.  If I am, what am I to do with all of the other locks I have on rifles and guns?

Thanks guys.  One other thing I'd like to mention...  We've received a few calls from people who said they had heard we were having trouble with mainsprings breaking.  This is not true in the slightest.  In fact since we've begun this lock making endeavor, we've not had one single spring break.  Not even on the trial springs.  Just wanted to try to head this off at the pass before it takes on life of it's own!

All the best,
Jim

Jim,
That's a great looking lock. I'm also looking forward to the water poof pan version.  Is the bridle on this lock located by pins also?  I couldn't tell looking at the pictures.
Thank you,
Kevin

This is a bit difficult to describe, but the short answer is yes.  The bridle is positively located and the screws only hold the bridle to the plate.  I'll have to get some pictures taken to fully describe things.  It's a pretty neat set-up.

Thanks,
Jim
