Georgia Map Horn

The Oconee River served as the boundary between Georgia and the Creek Indian Lands. A series of Forts and Stations were built along the river to provide the settlers some protection. Jonas Fauche was a Swiss immigrant who fought in the Continental Army and received a land grant in Georgia for his service. The map is dated 1792. The blockhouse sketch is from a letter that Secy of War Henry Knox sent to the Georgia Governor outlining sizes and shapes for the proposed forts. Ron

Looks like it belongs to the period of time it represents. Very well done.

Fantastic buddy. Is your house on there? Must be close if not. :-) That engraving looks super, and the colors came out just right. Map horns are just so fascinating, and you do a great job with them. Bet your hands are sore. God Bless, Marc
