hooked breech & the vent
« on: March 26, 2020, 02:19:37 AM »
Hi Guys,
I have breeched my barrel and and have it inletted along with the hooked tang. I also have my lock inletted and when placing these in the stock and centering the vent mark over the pan with a magic marker I noticed the place brings the potential vent hole very close to the edge of the breech plug shoulder. I measured it to be .133" from the center of the hole. I am ready to start drilling for the the tang and lock screws but hesitate because of where the vent will be located. I haven't purchased my liner yet but I am wondering if I drill for it will I break the shoulder of the breech plug..... not quite sure what to do. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

use a 1/4" liner and cheat it forward a little. centered is the "ideal" location, but anywhere in the pan will work. You can also grind the pan recess a little to move center forward if there is enough meat around edge.
