That’s exactly what I was thinking, Brian.  You can do a lot of work with a good sharp 3 or 4 inch blade.

Good looking knife tippit. I was going to say patch knife, but stifled as I know some
folks like little knives for butchering big game as well.

Thanks for all your kind comments.  I agree that a small knife is what I use when hunting deer and hogs...but my personal hunting knives are very plain.  I don't even have handles on them.  I prefer a 6-7 inch knife that I carry in my fanny pack.  They both have Orange Kydex sheaths so they are easy to see if I lay them down in the leaves when field dressing game.  Here are two knives that I use in the field.

6 inch No Frills blade...

7 inch Flared Finger Guard No Frills blade...

That's a cool knife- no scales - no frills?  Very utilitarian.

My hunting belt. I preferred at least 5" of blade for moose and 6" of more is not out of line.
The longest one pictured, became my favourite, however the buck in the middle has done a few.
The custom knife on the left with rosewood scales was made for me by a local chap I built a couple
stick bows for. Beautiful thin blade and lovely for slicing venison steaks.

Nice knives Daryl, I tend to build almost all of my gear.  I only hunt with a longbow...many of my own build. Plus I forge my own arrow heads.

Real nice. Primitive arrows are tougher for me to make than bows.

Those pattern welded arrowheads are really nice.
