Being Sheltered in Place, luckily I have my forge to play around in.  In response to Idea for a Knife post, I forged up a small patch knife with the antler tine to be used as a ball starter.  I have a few Woodbury style knives with the ball starter on the end of the handle...but decided to try on on the side.  I haven't put it together or ground the tine down to just a nub yet...tippit

I think that’ll work just dandy, Tippit!  Be sure and post when you get it all finished up

Nice knife that tine should work just fine.

When I looked at the knife this morning, the shape of the blade looked clunky. So here is the re-ground shape with the blade quenched & ready to be tempered (once the bread is out of the oven)...tippit

Tippit,
That is a fine looking stay at home project. I think you have a keeper there.

FYI...I'm a knife moderator on Trad Gang (traditional bowhunting site).  Every spring we do an auction to help Saint Judes Children's Hospital.  I know we have a number of black powder shooters so I've donated this little patch knife to the auction.  Actually I donate most of the knives I forge.
