I wonder if the grooves would have a positive effect if the frizzen got coated with water? The grooves would tend to pull it away from the ribs if I remeber my surface chemistry correctly.

So... I have this lock that, shall we say, is an "indifferent sparker". It is a modern lock with a heat treated frizzen, so theoretically is hardened throughout. Would using a dremmel tool cutoff wheel to cut grooves in the frizzen help this thing produce better ignition? I am assuming we are talking vertical grooves here by the way.
