My New G. Elsenbeck Bag
« on: July 10, 2020, 02:00:45 AM »
Hello friends!  :)

After a tumultuous day at work, I arrived home and was greeted with a box containing my new shooting pouch from our fellow forum member Gary Elsenbeck. In short, this bag is fantastic! Here it is:

I worked with Mr. Elsenbeck to create a design for the bag. I desired a small bag, nothing too large and bulky, of the traditional heart-shaped pattern. I love the heart-shaped bags as they seem to keep everything in the right spot. I keep round balls loose in the bag and the shape naturally funnels them down to the bottom where they will not roll about when walking. The bag also features a neat internal pocket for stowing tow, worm, and spare gunflints. He used a very handsome bone button for the closure.

He made it from beautiful and supple (yet strong) milled cow’s leather that is just so lovely! I needed a new bag for my Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle kit which is currently on order from Jim & Kathy and the gang.

Mr. Elsenbeck is an absolutely stand up gentleman that graciously and patiently worked with me through every choice. I simply could not have asked for a better back and it is exactly what I was desiring. It doesn’t happen often but a skilled craftsman can seem to bring out a product as if lifted straight from the mind. If anyone is out there searching for a pouch and is desiring something custom, his are an absolute pleasure.

Thanks all and take care! Will update as I build my Kibler, too! I love this hobby!  ;D

Very nice pouch indeed!

I agree 100%. Gary has helped me out in the past and is very gracious.

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,

Doug

Very nice looking bag, and should go perfectly with your new rifle!  Did Gary make the horn as well?

No that is an antique original I repaired and is from my other bag used on my percussion Ohio rifle, just grabbed it because it was handy. I am working on finding a horn for this bag. :)

That horn you used with the pouch looks similar to one in my arsenal, especially the treatment to the tip.
