I've been hearing about the Windex cleaning and some used to use it, sometimes with an added oil, for patch lube for target shooting, since about the mid. 1970's, on an off.
I've been using straight tap water (cold tap) since that time without ever rusting a bore since then.
Prior to that, I got flash-rusting from using hot water - in my TC Hawken(s).
After stopping with the hot water, no more rusting.

Windex is popular with the BPCR crowd. We front stuffers use cool water followed by WD-40.
