southern rifle?? what sort of lock??

Dear Experts -- I recently acquired a rifle with a 43 inch, .44 cal smoothbore, 7/8 barrel.

Is this some sort of Southern region product?  (I  believe Ohio/Penn had a few makers that used this stock pattern, but the tang and other features might indicate farther south.)
Tang 5  inches in length, probably original as seems wrought iron.

Lock seems a definite replacement -- though can't determine the era -- mid 20th century replacement of some sort?  If so, what maker, or possible origin? Handmade? 19th century?

Unsure if it was original flint, then percussion, then back to flint;  or original percussion, then "converted" to flint when stock was repaired (wrist break).

Triggerguard and triggerplate (brass, in two sections) seem like replacements, as the thinly filed cast trig guard is held on with two screws (but there is a hole in the stock for a rear lug).  The upper tang screw is a wood screw, but does not go all the way to the triggerplate -- though there is a hole that does.

Any ideas on regional origin, ideas about th elock, or what to do (if anything) about rehabilitating this piece are very welcome.  It seems to have been worked on mid-20th century) Please see the photos.

[Hungry Horse]

 Old Dixie Gun Works f1 flintlock, probably a barrel manufactured for Dixie as well. I know they offered some barrels rifled, and unrifled. The unrifled barrels were a little smaller in the bore, so I suspect the were just barrels that had been reamed but not rifled. So I would guess this gun was built sometime in the seventies or eighties.

Thanks very much Hungry Horse for the lock info -- much appreciated.

I believe (as the new photos show) that the barrel, tang, and stock are all 19th century, but as I mentioned, I think the rifle was reworked in the mid-twentieth century. 

I am still interested in comments as to the regional style of the rifle.
