Some of you will remember that a set of 5 Billy Watson knifes were recently sold here.
I got busy over the weekend. Cleaned up the knifes, put a razor edge on them and made 4 sheaths.
For the leather I heat up equal parts of neats foot oil and bees wax on the stove just warm enough to make it liquid. The leather goes in the oven at 175 F. Once everything is heated up I simply use a cheap paint brush and liberally apply the mixture. Pop them back in the oven and let the mixture soak into the leather. I do this twice.
I dont dye my leather, I like to just let it darken with age and use.
The largest knife I have not made a sheath for yet. Not sure what I am going to do with that one.
One of the smaller ones will go to a buddy this week that I owe for all the work that he has recently helped me with.
I think my 22 year old son must be sick. I asked him last night if he wanted one of them. He told me that I have already made and given him more knifes then he knows what to do with.
